Why this site exists

Almost every storage guide online assumes you own the place. You can drill, replace the cabinets, install a closet system. Most people can't.

If you rent, every storage problem has to be solved with something removable, returnable and purchasable — which means getting the measurements right the first time actually matters. Buy the wrong bin and you've got a return to package and a weekend wasted.

What's different here

We lead with the measurement. A "24-inch cabinet" has a 21-inch opening, because the face frame takes an inch and a half from each side. IKEA drawers are narrower at the bottom than the top. Command hooks have a size limit that binds independently of the weight limit. None of that is printed on the box, and all of it decides whether the thing you order fits.

We show the working. Published standards get cited. Where a number is derived rather than sourced, we say so rather than inventing precision. Where a sample is small, we print how small.

We write about what fails. Those posts earn nothing, which is precisely why almost nobody writes them.
